Thermodynamic Analysis of a Semi-Closed Oxy-fuel Combustion Combined Cycle

Semi-closed oxy-fuel combustion combined cycle (SCOC-CC) is a strong concept of carbon capture and storage (CCS) in gas-fired power plants. This technology similar to conventional cycle, however oxygen instead air used fuel combustion. In the gas turbine flue gases consist mainly CO2 H2O. One problems implement this necessity an separation unit (ASU) separate from air, which increases energy consumption plant. Thus, comparative thermodynamic analysis was performed between (base case) cycle. The objective identify each technology's pros cons, influence purity combine main irreversibilities case. SCOC-CC optimal operating point (maximum efficiency) found utilizing particle swarm optimization (PSO), lead ASU 95.99%. It noticed that first law efficiency 6.9% lower than base case, second 6.5% lower. Despite loss more environmentally friendly since it can theoretically all produced chamber.
